Lighter than ice cream but just as flavorful and refreshing, sorbets and granitas are the perfect escape from summer heat or cleanse your palette between courses during a meal. Here’s one of our favorite recipes using Sutter Buttes fresh Lemon Ginger Jam.
2 1/2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups lemon juice
1 Tbsp Sutter Buttes Meyer Lemon Ginger Jam
Prep: 10 minutes, Chill 8 hours total
Heat water and sugar in a medium saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and ginger; chill well. Pour into a 1-quart dish; cover and freeze for 8 hours. Scrape the top with a fork until mixture is slushy. Return to freezer for a least 4 more hours; scrape with a fork again until light and fluffy.
Spoon into small dishes and garnish with a small
piece of fresh lemon, mint or ginger.
