Shawarma Lamb Meatballs with Feta Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb (20% fat, 80% lean)
  • 2 cloves garlic, very finely minced
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Sutter Buttes Shawarma Seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper

Feta Sauce

  • 4 oz. creamy feta
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley

To serve: Fresh lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, lemon wedges and dill.

Directions

  1. Preheat the broiler of your oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine lamb, garlic, seasonings in a medium bowl. Gently work until everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Use clean hands to roll into 1-ounce balls (makes about 16) and broil for 12-15 minutes until they are golden on top and slightly pink in the middle.
  4. Serve with fresh salad and feta sauce.

Feta Sauce

  1. Add above “Feta Sauce” ingredients into the bowl of a food processor and pulse until smooth.
  2. Season to taste.
  3. Scoop into a bowl and add drizzle of extra virgin olive oil on top.
